I searched for one of these for a very long time, and now I am the proud owner of two! This is the newest member of my collection, and my first video from our new house. This is a RCA Victor Stereo Orthophonic High Fidelity Console Model: SHC-2, equipped with chassis: RC-1168C. This unit is equipped with fourteen tubes, they are as follows: 6CB6, 6X8, 6BA6, (2)6AU6, 6AL5, 6AV6, 6AL7GT, (3)6CG7, (2) 6V6GT, 5AS4A. I love these things, wish I had one for every room, this is an awesome looking, and sounding vintage piece of tube history. I would like to know what these things sold for when they were new. I traveled about two hours south of me to pick this one up. I stumbled across this piece looking around on “Craigslist”. The very nice lady whom I purchased this from stated that it had belonged to her mother, but it no longer played. Folks, I have messed with these old radio’s for many years now, and I have to say that never ever before have I ever found so many bad resistors in any one chassis at any one time ever! Resistors that were just open, no resistance at all, and several that were thousands of ohms out of tolerance. None of these resistors showed any signs of heat, or damage of any kind, their color codes were still bright, and they really looked as new, but they were shot. All defective, and out of tolerance resistors were replaced the electrolytic filters, and all bypass capacitors as well. All of the pots, and switches received a good cleaning, and lubricated …

Three Kato n scale engines with varying ditch light lighting sources installed. From left to right the following components were used: 1) UP SD70Ace – Digitrax DN163K1D with factory LED on decoder for the headlight and two Golden White mini surface mount LED’s, mounted within each ditch light housing. 2) BN SD70MAC – Digitrax DN163K1B with factory LED on decoder for the headlight and two Circuitron 1.4 mm incandescent light bulbs (1.5 volts, 13 ma) as ditch lights. 3) BN SD70MAC – Digitrax DN163K1B with factory LED on decoder for the headlight and two Sunny White mini surface mount LED’s, connected to each light tube duct via small electrical shrink wrap tubing. – All resistors are surface mounts which are soldered directly to the F1,F2 position. They are 1k-1/4W for the LED’s and 680Ohm – 1/4W for the incandescent bulbs. All components were purchased at Ulrich Models (www.ulrichmodels.biz I also found the following tutorials very useful: 1.
